Outside of family and friends there's not many people I'd be prepared to drive a 4-hour+ round trip to see for all of 10 to 15 minutes in total.
However, reigning World Superbike Champion Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is one of the select few who makes the cut!
I was lucky enough to interview him last year on Zoom (see "Interview Toprak Razgatlıoğlu") for T-Vine Magazine but this was the first time I'd met him in person. He is a true gentlemen, down to earth and happy to engage in conversation - definitely helps if you can speak Turkish mind... 😉
As it was a meet and greet session, and notwithstanding the fact that Toprak had an evening flight booked back to Turkey - sorry, Türkiye - I didn't get to spend as much time chatting with him as I'd have liked but you obviously can't expect to receive special treatment and hog someone's time under those circumstances.
I also managed to meet and briefly chat to Paul Denning (Pata Yamaha with Brixx's Team Principal) and Sarah Byles (Pata Yamaha with Brixx's Sponsorship and Marketing Manager), who despite being clearly busy and somewhat rushed off their feet were still happy to engage in conversation.
