Back in February of this year I'm sitting there at my desk, just another normal day at work. So imagine my shock when I looked up to see James Haydon casually walk into the office!
As a motorsport fan it was easily one of the most epically surreal moments of my life!
I looked at him and all I could offer was: "Holy sh*t! You're James Haydon!"
James smiled in what looked to be a mixture of being slightly taken aback at being recognised and amusement at my reaction to seeing him.
What added to the profound surreality of the situation was that as per what I wrote in My Story I was meant to meet James back in 2001 at Brands Hatch. I'm not a religious or spiritual person but it really did feel like that in its own weird and wonderful way the world wanted our paths to cross, and contrived to do so 20+ years later in the most random of circumstances.
Seriously, what are the chances of something like that happening?!
James was an absolute gent and was happy to indulge mine and my dad's fanboyism, answering our questions and discussing aspects of his career.
Suffice to say, I'm happy to report that James agreed a deal with my dad and is now the owner of a fantasitc little sports car - enjoy it James!
